O ülkede ‘salmonella’ alarmı! Yumurtaları tüketen 306 kişi hastalandı – Sağlık Haberleri
Belgium’s Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV) has announced that eggs from a producer in the Geel region have been identified as the source of a salmonella outbreak. The poultry at the farm were quarantined and the eggs suspected of contamination have been recalled in eight European countries, including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy and Portugal.
Salmonella infection manifests with fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. While symptoms usually subside within a few days, they can be life‑threatening for young children and people with weakened immune systems.
Following a joint investigation by FAVV, the Flemish Health Department and Sciensano, the contaminated eggs were removed from the market. In 2024, nine salmonella outbreaks were reported, affecting 149 people, 20 of whom were hospitalized. In March 2025, approximately 70 cases were linked to egg consumption. The agency also identified tiramisu as another food linked to the outbreaks. Citizens are urged to refrain from consuming the affected eggs and to return them to the store where they were purchased.
